Mrs Phillippe Brilliant Badgers

Our current topic is 'Land Ahoy'.

Yo ho, yo ho, it’s a sailor’s life for me! Get your sea legs on, it’s time to sail the salty seas. Navigate, investigate and explore the world, just like Captain Cook. Make a boat, sink a ship, fly a pirate flag. Speak like a pirate, write like a poet, then weigh and measure a pirate’s booty. How do rescues happen at sea? Find out about brave volunteers and young Miss Darling, rowing her boat across stormy seas. Sing a sea shanty whilst cleaning the poop deck, then search the school grounds for Captain Longbeard’s hidden treasure. There’s land ahead. Let’s get this ship to port!

Class Dojo

Class Dojo is a brilliant way to stay in touch. The class story can be seen by all parents in the class - I will use this to keep you informed of what is happening in class. Portfolios can only be seen by individual parents - what you or I post in your child's portfolio can only be seen by you and the staff attached to the class (no other parents can see your child's portfolio). You can use this to send me pictures of work completed at home.  I can also send you pictures of work being completed in class so you can see their achievements and what you could do to support at home.  Messages can only be seen by the person who sent it and the person they sent it to - no other parents or members of staff can see what is written.

General Reminders

PE

PE is on a Monday and Thursday, so please ensure you wear your PE bottoms on these days - black shorts, leggings or joggers please. Black pumps need to be kept in a bag on your peg. Children with long hair will need to tie it back. Earrings will need to be removed or covered with tape.

Reading

Please aim to read with your child at home 4 times a week. This could be reading books from school, library books, books you have at home, magazines or online books. Please make a note in your reading record each day you read for 5 minutes or more. Books can be changed on a Tuesday or Friday.  Please make a note of how many times your child reads at home in the reading record. We will check each Friday and give out any badges that have been earned. 25 reads will earn you a purple royal reader badge, 50 reads will earn you a black royal reader badge, 100 reads will earn you a blue royal reader badge and 150 reads will earn you a new book!

Homework

At the start of each topic, information will be given about the topic along with suggested books to support learning and ideas for activities to complete at home.

Each week on a Wednesday we will put some homework on class dojo. This is to support what we are learning in class.

Please send a photo, video or note of any work you complete for the homework via class dojo.

Along with reading 4 times a week, we would greatly appreciate your support with helping your child to learn their number bonds as rapid recall.
