Mrs Phillippe Brilliant Badgers
Our first topic of the year is called 'Land Ahoy'. Be ready to find out about explorers, learn the names of some seas, investigate boats and their materials and create your own treasure map!
Class Dojo is a brilliant way to stay in touch. The class story can be seen by all parents in the class - I will use this to keep you informed of what is happening in class. Portfolios can only be seen by individual parents - what you or I post in your child's portfolio can only be seen by you and the staff attached to the class (no other parents can see your child's portfolio). You can use this to send me pictures of work completed at home. I can also send you pictures of work being completed in class so you can see their achievements and what you could do to support at home. Messages can only be seen by the person who sent it and the person they sent it to - no other parents or members of staff can see what is written.
PE is on a Monday, so please ensure you wear your PE kit on these days. Children with long hair will need to tie it back. Earrings will need to be removed or covered with tape.
Please aim to read with your child at home 4 times a week. This could be reading books from school, library books, books you have at home, magazines or online books. Please make a note in your reading record each day you read for 5 minutes or more. Books can be changed on a Tuesday or Friday. We count up the number of times you have read at home each Friday. 25 reads will earn you a purple royal reader badge, 50 reads will earn you a black royal reader badge, 100 reads will earn you a blue royal reader badge and 150 reads will earn you a new book!
At the start of each topic, information will be given about the topic along with suggested books to support learning and ideas for activities to complete at home.
Each week on a Wednesday we will put some spellings on class dojo. These are linked to sounds and spelling patterns we have been learning in phonics that week and will be checked in school in sentences each Friday.
Each week on a Wednesday we will also be suggesting some maths activities that can be completed at home to support what we have been learning in Maths that week.
Please send a photo, video or note of any work you complete for the homework via class dojo.
Along with reading 4 times a week, we would greatly appreciate your support with helping your child to learn their number bonds as rapid recall.
