Portway Infant School is committed to ensuring that children learn in a safe and caring environment. We ensure that all staff and volunteers share this commitment.
The school has a statutory responsibility to share any concern about a child's welfare it might have with other agencies. We will ensure that the concerns are discussed with the parents/carers, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. The school will always seek to work in partnership with parents and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child and family.
If you have any concerns that a child is being harmed or living in circumstances that might be harmful in the future the safeguarding leads in school are:
Designated safeguarding lead: Mrs Lisa McSherry (Headteacher)
Deputy safeguarding lead: Mrs Amanda Gilbert (Deputy headteacher)
Safeguarding governor: Mrs Megan Shirley (Chair of governors)
If you have any safeguarding concerns please contact us via email at safeguarding@portwayi.derby.sch.uk.
This email address can also be used during the school holidays.
