Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
OFSTED September 2023
To make this judgement the lead inspector: reviewed the single central record; took account of the views of leaders, staff and pupils; and considered the extent to which the school has created an open and positive culture around safeguarding that puts pupils’ interests first. |
Portway Infant School is committed to ensuring that children learn in a safe and caring environment. We ensure that all staff and volunteers share this commitment.
The school has a statutory responsibility to share any concern about a child's welfare it might have, with other agencies. We will ensure that the concerns are discussed with parents/carers, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare. The school will always seek to work in partnership with parents and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child and family.
If you have any concerns that a child is being harmed or living in circumstances that might be harmful in the future the safeguarding leads in school are,
Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Lisa McSherry (Headteacher)
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Mrs Hayley Anderson (Assistant Headteacher) and Miss Emma Wood (Learning Mentor)
Safeguarding Governor: Mr Sam Pilgrim
If you have any safeguarding concerns please contact the DSL via email at safeguarding@portwayi.derby.sch.uk.
