School Council
Members of the school council work with others to ensure OFSTED September 2023 |
At Portway Infant School, we are proud to have a dedicated and enthusiastic School Council who work hard to make our school an even better place to learn and grow. The School Council represents the voices of all our pupils and ensures that everyone’s ideas are heard and valued.
Each year, children are elected by their class to represent their year group — with one councillor from each of our Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 classes. Through regular meetings and class council discussions, pupils are encouraged to share suggestions, express their opinions, and take an active role in school life.
Our School Council aims to:
- Give every child the opportunity to have their voice and ideas heard
- Involve pupils in decision-making and school improvement
- Encourage a sense of pride, ownership, and responsibility within our school community
- Help children understand how they can make a positive difference to their school and environment
At Portway Infant School, we believe that even our youngest learners can be leaders — shaping our school today and for the future.
Our Council Members
Our School Council members launched Anti-Bullying Week by spreading awareness across the school community. They created colourful and informative posters all about building and maintaining healthy friendships, which are now proudly displayed around the school.
During our meeting, we discussed this year’s these “power for good” and explored positive ways we can use our power for good to make our school a safe, kind, and supportive place for everyone.
