School Council

Members of the school council  work with others to ensure
that the school is the best that it can be for all pupils.

OFSTED September 2023

At Portway Infant School we have a very enthusiastic group of School Councillors who work hard to ensure that we can take lots of ideas on board to make our school better. The school council represents the whole school. Children are elected annually, our council has one representative from each one of our Reception, Y1 and Y2 classes. Through the setup of a school council and class council work, we aim to ensure pupils have positive attitudes to exert a positive influence.

The school council aims to enable our children to:

  • Have their voices and ideas heard
  • Have a say about decisions, and to play an active role in making their school a better place
  • Enjoy and feel empowered by their education
  • Have a responsibility towards the school community and the environment
