At Portway Infants we teach the children breathing techniques. We have lots of different breathing techniques that we practise at school. Below are examples of the different breathing techniques we use as a whole class and also individually when children need support.
Rainbow breathing - you can sit, stand, lie down etc. Make the shape of a rainbow as you slowly breath in and out for 5 breaths at a time.
Hot chocolate breathing - pretend you are holding a hot chocolate in your hands. Smell the chocolate and breath in, blow off the cream and breath out.
Hand breathing - Hold out one hand and use a finger from your other hand to trace up and down on each fingers. Breath in as you go up and out as you go down.
