We are unapologetic for setting high expectations of attendance for our children. Illness of course, cannot be helped and if your child is not well enough to cope with the school day then please keep them at home. Please avoid holidays during term time as these seriously disrupt children's learning. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, term time holidays will not be authorised by the Headteacher and a fine may be incurred as all requests are sent to Derby City Council.

Based on Derby City's guidance, here is how we classify attendance:

Outstanding attendance 100%

Good attendance 97% and above

Room for improvement 96% and below

Cause for concern 90% and below

To report a child's absence please contact the school office on 01332 550702 or e mail admin@portwayi.derby.sch.uk. Please do not do this via Class Dojo as teaching staff do not check this during the school day.
