Miss Brown - Outstanding Owls

Have a look at our long term planning for the foundation year.

The following document outlines what we will be assessing and teaching during Autumn term.

This half term we are continuing to  learn about what we call in EYFS 'Understanding the world' which is where we learn about: people, culture and communities (RE and Geography), past and present (History) and the natural world (Science). We are learning about Charles Darwin and we have been inspired to get outside and observe our natural environment and record all the wonderful things we find. We are also learning how to keep our class plant alive.

In maths we are practising our number bonds to 5 and have been using the songs  '5 little monkeys' '5 speckled frogs' and 'five little men in a flying saucer'. We are also using tens frames to represent different amounts.

In English we are focusing on the book 'Oh Dear, look what I got!' by Michael Rosen, the children are enjoying learning about different rhyming pairs, drawing and labelling characters, settings and creating their own adventures.

We will also be learning about 'Personal, social and emotional development' and we will be learning about this through our PSHE lessons which we call our 'Growing up Great' lessons. This half term we are focusing on money.

In Expressive art and design we are practising our drawing skills and using natural objects as inspiration for observational drawings.

In RE are learning about places where people feel safe and will be starting to learn about places of worship.
