Our current topic in Year 2 is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. We will be learning about different types of castles, different parts of castles, where in the UK some castles are located and looking at the artist Paul Klee. We will also be reading lots of different information books all about castles.
Class Dojo-
Class Dojo is an efficient way to keep in touch. Our class dojo will be regularly updated where I will post information relating to what we are doing/ have done in class and any additional information you may need to know. If your child completes any work at home that you would like to upload for me to see, you can put it in their portfolio and only myself and other staff attached to our class can see this work (other parents cannot see). If you have any messages or questions, please use class dojo.
P.E-
Our P.E days are on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their P.E kit on these two days.
Reading-
Reading is so important for your child so where possible, please aim to read with your child at home 4 times a week. This can be your child's reading book from school, a library book, books from home or an online book. When you have read with your child, please ensure you date and sign their yellow reading record as this will let me know that they have been read with. We count up how many times your child is reading at home every Friday, so please make sure their yellow reading record is in their bag. Books are changed every Tuesday and Friday. If your child reads 25times, they will gain their purple royal reader badge. 50 reads will earn them a black royal reader badge, 100 reads will earn them a blue royal reader badge and 150 reads will earn them a new book!
Homework-
Along with reading, we would greatly appreciate your support with helping your child to learn their times tables. All children have been given their TT rockstars login. If they have lost this, please let me know.
Spellings are set and sent home each Friday for your child to learn and then we have our spelling test on the following Friday.
Homework is set based on the topic we are learning about in school. It is given on a Friday where your child has 2 weeks to complete it before sending it back in. We then collect homework books to have a look at what the children have done and stick in their new homework.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
